Creative Inspirations: The Art and Website of Maxwell Holyoke-Hirsch

Vibrant illustrations and a beautifully clean and simple portfolio site design combine for today’s creative inspiration.
Maxwell Holyoke-Hirsch is a brilliant illustrator and designer, and he also has a lovely website. Three rows of overlapping circular icons provide navigation to Holyoke-Hirsch’s design portfolio. On hover each comes alive with a little shake and fade, and clicking through we discover that each is a cutout from one of the artist’s many published illustrations, or to his work for the product development firm Speck Design. The “next page” link on the left brings up a second set of circular cutouts with links. You’re never sure where you are going, but you want to keep exploring.

The artwork is beautiful, but as a web-person, I’m in love with the website. It’s minimalistic, accessible, pleasing, and is thus the best way to showcase artwork/design.
